Research and Development Temporary Residence in Slovakia — January 2025

Slovakia provides temporary residence for research and development for a third-country national carrying out research or development on the basis of a hosting agreement.

January 2025 framework

Section 26 of Act No. 404/2011 Coll. provides the residence for the period needed to achieve the purpose, subject to the statutory maximum applicable to the route. The law also permits a holder of this research-and-development residence to conduct business during the residence.

A short stay of up to 90 days may fall under a separate statutory exception where the entry/residence conditions and notification duties are satisfied; that exception should not be confused with a long-term residence grant.
