Innovative Startup Founder Business Residence in Slovakia — January 2025
Slovakia's official Ministry of Economy describes Startup visas as an application for temporary residence for business under Section 22, supported by a Business Plan for the Implementation of an Innovative Project.
It is a business-residence track, not a separate immigration status
The underlying legal status remains temporary residence for business. The startup label identifies the innovative-project pathway and evidence used by founders; it is not a separate residence category independent of Section 22.
For qualifying innovative-project applications under the framework in force for the January 2025 snapshot, the Ministry describes a 30-day decision period for the police authority. Applicants still need to meet the immigration and business requirements applicable to the residence application.
Founder alternatives
A founder whose activity is not handled through the innovative-project track should compare the general Business Temporary Residence. Passive capital investment alone is not presented here as a Slovak investor visa.
