Scientific Research and Job Search in Montenegro in 2026
A foreign researcher may obtain temporary residence on the basis of a qualifying contract with a research or higher-education institution or other eligible entity.
Research residence is issued for up to 1 year. A researcher may also work as a lecturer or professor for no more than 15 hours per week.
After completing research, an eligible researcher may receive temporary residence for up to 9 months to seek employment. This is a transition period, not permanent residence.
