IT Sector Employment in Montenegro in 2026

The 2026 Law on Foreigners contains a dedicated employment route for foreign nationals working in Montenegro's IT sector.

The applicant must meet the general residence conditions and provide an IT-sector employment contract with a Montenegrin employer for at least 12 months.

The permit may be issued for up to 3 years and may be extended for up to 3 years. This is materially different from the ordinary one-year employment permit.
