Family Reunification in Montenegro in 2026
Temporary residence for family reunification may be granted to immediate family members of a Montenegrin citizen or qualifying temporary/permanent resident.
The permit is generally issued for up to 1 year or until the sponsor's permit expires. Family reunification is not available through a seasonal-employment sponsor.
Work access depends on sponsor status. Family members of a Montenegrin citizen, permanent resident, researcher or certain intra-company transferees can have free labour-market access; a family member of a temporary work-permit holder may work after 1 year from obtaining family residence.
