DN1 business visa in Viet Nam in 2026
The DN1 visa is for a foreign national who enters to work with an enterprise or other organization having legal-person status under Vietnamese law. Under the current consolidated immigration law, DN1 visas have a statutory maximum validity of one year.
A business visa is not automatically a work permit
The visa answers an immigration question: why the person is admitted and for how long the visa can be issued. It does not by itself establish that the foreigner may perform local employment. Where the activity is employment governed by Viet Nam's labour rules, the employer must separately determine whether a work permit or a work-permit exemption confirmation is required.
Sponsorship matters
Most purpose-coded visas under the immigration law require an eligible Vietnamese inviting or guaranteeing authority, organization or individual unless a statutory exception applies. Company documentation and the proposed activity should therefore align with the DN1 purpose.
Residence position
DN1 is not among the statutory symbols listed for temporary residence cards. People who need a longer residence status should not assume that a DN1 business visa itself creates TRC eligibility.
