Viet Nam TT family visa and residence in 2026
The TT category covers the spouse or child under 18 of a foreigner holding a listed qualifying visa category, and a foreign parent, spouse or child of a Vietnamese citizen.
Visa and TRC duration
A TT visa has a statutory maximum validity of one year. TT is also a temporary-residence-card category, with a current statutory maximum of three years, subject to passport validity and the sponsoring basis.
UĐ2 is separate
The 2026 reforms created UĐ2 for the spouse and children under 18 of a UĐ1 holder, so those cases should use the preferential framework rather than being relabelled TT.
Permanent residence is a different test
A parent, spouse or child of a Vietnamese citizen may also be relevant to permanent residence, but that route requires a separate statutory application. The family-sponsored permanent-residence category requires at least three continuous years of temporary residence plus lawful accommodation and stable income.
