Uzbekistan immigration pathways — January 2025 snapshot

Uzbekistan's official framework in January 2025 separated special IT Visa eligibility, ordinary local employment, general investment visas, high-value investor residence, and short-term business entry.

Route map

Digital nomads, remote workers and freelancers

The Tier-1 government sources reviewed for this historical snapshot do not establish a general digital-nomad or open freelancer visa. Remote-work marketing terms should not be substituted for a legal category.

Qualifying IT professionals may use the IT Visa specialist route, but that is an eligibility-based IT program rather than a universal remote-work visa.

Entrepreneurs and startup founders

There is no separate general startup-founder visa identified in the January 2025 official sources. A qualifying founder of an IT Park resident company may fit the IT Visa founder route. Temporary business travel may fit B-2, but B-2 is not residence or work authorization.

Investors

Uzbekistan had three materially different investor pathways: the sector-specific IT investor visa, the national INV investment visa, and a separate investor residence permit for qualifying high-value investment.

Skilled workers

Ordinary local employment uses the employment work visa and work-activity confirmation. Visa status and permission to work should not be conflated.

Before acting, reconfirm current rules with the competent Uzbekistan authority. See Asia, work visas, business visas, investor visas, methodology, and legal disclaimer.
