Graduate Job Search and Self-Employment in Slovenia in 2026
Slovenia provides a post-study residence permit for graduates seeking employment or self-employment.
Eligibility and duration
The route is for third-country nationals who completed qualifying tertiary study in Slovenia within the previous 2 years and obtained at least a tertiary qualification.
The permit is issued for a maximum of 9 months and cannot be extended.
Important work-right distinction
The job-search permit does not itself authorise employment. If the holder finds employment or becomes self-employed, they must obtain the appropriate new residence/work basis before starting the activity.
This is a transition status, not a nine-month open work permit.
