EU Blue Card in Slovenia in 2026
Slovenia's EU Blue Card is the residence/work route for highly qualified employment.
Qualification and salary
Current ESS guidance requires high professional qualifications and an employment contract for at least 6 months. The contract must provide salary of at least the latest published average annual gross salary in Slovenia. Because that published amount changes, this page does not hard-code a stale euro threshold.
Validity
The first Blue Card is issued for 2 years. If the employment contract is shorter, the card is issued for the contract period plus 3 months, capped at two years.
The Blue Card may be extended for up to 3 years at a time where the legal conditions remain met.
Job or employer changes during the protected initial period are subject to the current approval/notification rules.
