Corporate, Posted and Specialist Work in Slovenia in 2026
Some cross-border work in Slovenia uses specialist single-permit or registration rules rather than the ordinary local-employment route.
Posted and affiliated-company workers
For cross-border services by posted third-country workers, Slovenia uses single-permit consent rules. Current ESS guidance also covers movement within affiliated companies and training in associated companies.
For some cross-border-service cases, the foreign worker must already have been employed by the foreign employer for a qualifying period before posting; the precise period depends on the category.
Individual specialist services and representatives
ESS also has separate consent categories for individual services requiring specific expertise and for legal representatives working in Slovenia for more than 90 days in a calendar year.
Where a company employing a representative has been registered for less than six months, current rules may require evidence of at least EUR 50,000 invested in the activity before the single-permit application.
These categories are not substitutes for ordinary self-employment or local employment; the correct legal basis depends on the underlying cross-border arrangement.
