Scientific Research in Poland in 2026
Poland's temporary residence permit for scientific research is for qualifying researchers conducting research or development work with an approved Polish scientific institution.
Eligibility and validity
The applicant must hold a professional title allowing access to doctoral-level study and must have the required agreement with an institution authorized to host foreign researchers.
The permit is granted for the duration of the research or development work, from more than three months up to 3 years.
The route also supports EU researcher mobility under the applicable rules.
After research ends, an eligible researcher may apply for the separate 9-month temporary residence permit for seeking employment or starting a business.
