Family Reunification in Poland in 2026
Poland's family-reunification rules depend on the relationship and the sponsor's residence status.
A spouse or qualifying child can use family reunification when the sponsor holds one of the legal statuses listed in the Foreigners Act. Examples include permanent residence, long-term EU resident status, specified protection statuses, qualifying consecutive temporary permits, EU Blue Card, research and certain mobility permits.
Core requirements
In ordinary cases the application requires a qualifying family relationship plus conditions such as a stable and regular source of income, health insurance and an assured place of residence. Special rules apply to beneficiaries of international protection and other categories.
Family reunification should not be treated as automatic for every temporary-residence holder. Sponsor eligibility must be checked against the current official list.
Work rights also depend on the exact family status and should not be inferred merely from the sponsor's employment rights.
