January 2025 position

The official Guichet procedure, last updated in 2022 with an explanatory note updated in 2024, allowed a qualifying third-country researcher who successfully completed research activity in Luxembourg to apply before the researcher permit or mobility period expired.

If approved, the residence permit for personal reasons carried the wording for job search or business creation and was valid for 12 months. Before expiry, the holder had to transition to the appropriate salaried-worker or self-employed authorisation.

Not a general founder visa

This route is limited to eligible researchers completing Luxembourg research activity. It is not a standalone startup-founder route for applicants abroad.
