Studies and Graduate Options in Latvia in 2026
Third-country nationals admitted to qualifying accredited Latvian studies can use the study-residence framework.
PMLP's employment guidance states that a student residing under the relevant study basis may work up to 20 hours per week under the listed employment-right exception.
The new Immigration Law materially changed accompanying-family rules for students. PMLP states that the right for a student to enter together with family members is now restricted to citizens of NATO member states or doctoral students.
Older PMLP material described limited post-study residence for graduates of qualifying full-time master's or doctoral programmes. Because the September 2026 law reorganised residence rules, graduates should confirm the current post-study legal basis rather than relying on an older duration description.
