Business and Board-Member Options in Latvia in 2026
Latvia's business-residence framework includes legal bases connected with being an individual merchant or holding specified representative roles in a commercial entity.
PMLP materials separately identify an individual merchant registered in the Commercial Register and roles such as a partnership representative, board member, council member, procurator, administrator, liquidator, or authorised representative of a merchant or branch.
A company appointment alone is not a residence permit. PMLP examines the legal basis, business activity, invitation/sponsorship requirements, means of subsistence and other residence conditions.
Older PMLP duration tables were written under the previous Immigration Law. The new law effective 15 September 2026 changed validity periods for several temporary-residence categories and removed annual-registration requirements in a number of cases.
This guide therefore does not treat an older duration table as a guaranteed current permit term. Confirm the issuance period with PMLP for the exact commercial role used.
