Family Reunification in Latvia in 2026
Family reunification depends on the sponsor's legal status and relationship to the applicant.
PMLP's family guidance requires relationship evidence, means of support and the relevant invitation/call process. Different sponsor categories can produce different validity and work consequences for family members.
The new Immigration Law changed several family and permanent-residence rules. One expressly announced change is that students may bring family under the study framework only where the student is a citizen of a NATO member state or a doctoral student.
Older pages may still show broader historical wording. Use the new-law announcement together with the current family procedure.
Family residence should not be assumed merely because the principal applicant holds any Latvian visa; visas, temporary residence permits and EU long-term resident status have different family frameworks.
