EU Blue Card in Latvia in 2026
The EU Blue Card is Latvia's highly qualified employment route and has a different remuneration test from ordinary employment residence.
PMLP's current table, effective from 1 April 2026, sets the standard EU Blue Card remuneration benchmark at EUR 2,723 per month, corresponding to 1.5 times the prior-year average gross monthly wage.
For a profession included by the Cabinet in the list of specialties with a forecast significant labour shortage, the lower coefficient applies, producing a current threshold of EUR 2,178 per month.
Meeting the salary threshold alone is not sufficient. The job must satisfy highly qualified employment requirements, and the employment/sponsorship evidence must support the application.
Use the dedicated Blue Card framework rather than presenting every well-paid Latvian job as an EU Blue Card case.
