Dominican Republic Temporary Labor Residence (RT-3)
The RT-3 Temporary Labor Residence is the main DGM residence category for foreign nationals entering the Dominican Republic for employment under a work contract. The permit is valid for one year.
Entry visa requirement
DGM lists the Multiple Business Visa for Labor Purposes (NM1) as a requirement for RT-3. MIREX publishes NM1 variants, including categories for multinational or transnational company staff and free-zone employment.
For multinational staff, the official visa checklist can require evidence of the relationship with the parent company and a transfer letter identifying the position and remuneration arrangement.
Residence evidence
The RT-3 checklist includes a passport with at least six months' validity, NM1 visa, proof of the latest entry, civil-status documents, photographs and other supporting records. Applicants who have been in the Dominican Republic for six months may also need a Dominican criminal-record certificate.
Freelance and self-employment caution
RT-3 is framed around employment under a work contract. It should not be described as a general freelancer or self-employment visa. A founder, contractor or self-employed professional should verify whether a different residence or investment category better matches the actual facts.
Dependants
Eligible dependants of an RT-3 holder may use the separate RT-7 dependant residence.
