Dominican Republic rentista residence
The Dominican Republic offers a one-year rentista residence for a foreign national who wants to establish residence and receives qualifying recurring income from abroad.
Income threshold
The current DGM service page states that the applicant must receive at least US$2,000 per month in permanent income or rent from a foreign company or organization.
Foreign-income basis
This category is designed around qualifying foreign-source income. It is not a digital-nomad work visa and should not automatically be treated as authorization for local employment.
Application framework
DGM administers this category through the Foreign Investment Division. The application requires the residence-by-investment form, passport and other supporting evidence proving the claimed rentista status.
Renewals
DGM also maintains a separate renewal service for rentista residence and requires evidence that the qualifying income continued to be received and used in the Dominican Republic.
