Dominican Republic pensioner residence
DGM publishes a one-year residence category for a foreign pensioner or retiree who intends to establish residence in the Dominican Republic.
Pension threshold
The official page states a minimum monthly pension of US$1,500 paid by a foreign government, official body or private company.
Dependants
The government page allows qualifying family dependants to be included with the principal applicant, subject to additional civil-status, passport, visa and criminal-record documentation. Adult children may be included only in limited dependency situations such as study or disability.
Separate from rentista residence
Pensioner residence is distinct from the rentista route, which is based on qualifying foreign-source rental or recurring income rather than a pension.
Residence, not local-employment permission
This route should not be presented as a local work visa. Anyone planning to work in the Dominican Republic should separately assess the labor-residence framework.
See the Dominican Republic hub, Caribbean region, business visas, methodology, and legal disclaimer.
