Temporary Residence for Other Activities in Uruguay in 2026
Uruguay's temporary-residence framework is not limited to salaried workers and students. The current DNM page also provides evidence rules for religious workers and states that temporary residence can cover other activities established in immigration legislation.
Religious activity
A qualifying religious worker must provide a certificate from the recognised church, order or congregation describing the activity, mission duration and maintenance arrangements, together with notarial evidence concerning the organisation.
Other specialist activities should be matched to the legal category and evidence requested by DNM rather than relabelled as a generic freelance, artist or volunteer visa.
For activity under 180 days, DNM points applicants toward the Hoja de Identidad Provisoria framework where applicable.
