Temporary Residence Mercosur in Uruguay in 2026
Eligible nationals of Mercosur member and associated countries can use Uruguay's dedicated temporary Mercosur residence.
Duration
The current DNM framework describes this status as residence for up to two years, renewable for the same period.
Applicants provide valid identity documentation, criminal-record evidence, birth or nationality documentation where applicable, and Uruguayan health/vaccination evidence under the current process.
A person who intends to settle permanently may need to compare this route with Permanent Residence Mercosur. Temporary residence is not a prerequisite for permanent residence in every case.
