Taiwan Employment Gold Card in 2026
The Taiwan Employment Gold Card is a four-in-one document combining an open work permit, resident visa, Alien Resident Certificate (ARC), and re-entry permit for qualifying foreign special professionals.
Employer-independent work permission
Unlike an ordinary employer-sponsored work permit, the Gold Card is not tied to one employer. A qualifying holder can seek work, change jobs, and perform professional work without a new employer filing a separate permit for each change.
The card is available for 1, 2, or 3 years. Current qualification rules cover multiple professional fields. One common qualification route uses evidence of a recent monthly salary of at least NT$160,000, but salary is only one of many field-specific criteria and should not be presented as a universal requirement.
Application structure
Applications are filed online through the Foreign Professionals Online Application Platform. Current official guidance requires identity documents and evidence for the selected qualification field. The review involves immigration, labor and relevant professional authorities.
Gold Card residence can also support a later APRC permanent-residence pathway, subject to the applicable residence and presence tests.
