Taiwan Digital Nomad Visa in 2026
Taiwan's Digital Nomad Visa is a real government visa route, but it is a visitor visa, not permanent residence and not permission to provide services to Taiwan employers or businesses.
Core eligibility
Only nationals of countries eligible for Taiwan's visa-exempt entry can use this route.
An applicant must satisfy one of the following current qualification bases:
- proof of a digital-nomad visa issued by another country;
- if age 30 or older, annual salary of at least US$40,000 in one of the last two years; or
- if age 20–29, annual salary of at least US$20,000 in one of the last two years.
BOCA also requires evidence that the applicant's bank balance averaged at least US$10,000 per month over the previous 6 months, plus international health and full hospitalization insurance covering the intended stay.
Stay and extension
The visa is multiple-entry, valid for 6 months, and permits a stay of up to 6 months. Each extension can be up to another six months, without leaving Taiwan, with a maximum total stay of 2 years.
The route is for remote work performed digitally without providing services to businesses or employers in Taiwan.
