Philippines 9(d) treaty trader or treaty investor visa
The 9(d) route is treaty-based, not a universal entrepreneur visa. The Bureau of Immigration currently identifies qualifying nationals of the United States, Japan and Germany for treaty trader/investor treatment.
It can cover a treaty national entering solely to carry on qualifying trade or commerce, or a foreigner seeking admission to develop and direct the operations of an enterprise in the Philippines within the treaty framework.
Nationality matters
Eligibility depends on the applicable treaty relationship and the applicant's business role. Incorporating a Philippine company does not by itself create 9(d) eligibility.
Dependants and validity
BI publishes dependent procedures and one- or two-year fee schedules, but operational validity and documentary requirements should be checked at filing because administrative rules and fees can change.
