Panamá-Pacífico Investor Residence in Panama in 2026

The Panamá-Pacífico special economic area has a dedicated investor-residence category for qualifying capital in an eligible company operating in the area, its developer, or its operator. Panama Digital's official procedure describes a minimum of B/.250,000 in risk capital in an eligible special-zone entity.

The investment and company must qualify

The applicant must prove the investment and eligible entity status with corporate and capital documentation. Buying an apartment elsewhere in Panama, registering a shell company or holding unrelated company shares does not satisfy this special-area investment category. Confirm the company’s actual special-zone registration and the form of risk-capital contribution with the relevant authorities.

Residence, management and work authorization

Investment residence is not a universal work permit. MITRADEL has special-regime employment categories for qualifying activity in the Panamá-Pacífico area. A founder's management duties and any paid role must be checked under the corresponding immigration, labor, corporate and professional-licensing rules. Family members need their own eligibility and supporting documents.

Do not confuse similar thresholds

The B/.250,000 special-zone risk-capital requirement is distinct from the nationwide Qualified Investor route, whose September 2026 update distinguishes B/.300,000 for qualifying new first-sale property and B/.500,000 for resale property. The economic solvency category also has different legal conditions despite a similarly sized number.
