Young Professional Occupation Permit in Mauritius in 2026
The Young Professional Occupation Permit (YPOP) is a graduate-to-employment route for eligible foreign students who completed qualifying higher education in Mauritius.
Core eligibility
Current Passport and Immigration Office guidance says the applicant must have completed at least an undergraduate degree at a recognised Mauritian tertiary institution and the initial application must generally be made within six months after publication of results.
The published eligible fields include Artificial Intelligence, Biotechnology, Fintech, Robotics, Financial Services and Information Technology, with scope for other approved fields.
Employer-linked route
The employer submits the YPOP application. This is not an open job-seeker visa and is not the same as the standard Professional Occupation Permit.
The 2025/26 reform reduced the Young Professional Occupation Permit to two years. Some older official pages still show earlier three-year wording, so applicants should use the live EDB/immigration process for the current grant conditions and then move to the Professional Occupation Permit if eligible.
