The Self-Employed Occupation Permit is intended for a non-citizen carrying on qualifying self-employed activity in Mauritius rather than taking a normal salaried job.
Current 2026 performance benchmarks
The Economic Development Board's August 2026 update states that self-employed applicants are expected to generate MUR 2 million in annual business income from year 3. For renewal from year 5, the published benchmark rises to MUR 3 million.
