Retired Non-Citizen Residence Permit in Mauritius in 2026
Mauritius offers a Residence Permit for a retired non-citizen, separate from Occupation Permit categories used for work and business activity.
Current financial requirement
The Passport and Immigration Office identifies the route for foreign nationals over age 50.
The current Economic Development Board Act criteria require an initial transfer of at least USD 2,000 into a local bank within 60 days after issue of the permit, followed by either USD 24,000 annually or USD 2,000 per month.
Work is separate
Retirement residence should not be treated as a substitute for an Occupation Permit or Work Permit. A person planning active local employment or business activity should verify the authorization required.
