Property Owner Residence Permit in Mauritius in 2026
Mauritius links residence rights to certain qualifying property acquisitions under approved real-estate frameworks.
Current published threshold
Economic Development Board material states that a non-citizen acquiring qualifying residential property under relevant approved schemes can become eligible for a residence permit where the qualifying acquisition is at least USD 375,000 or the applicable equivalent.
EDB publishes residence treatment for qualifying acquisitions under schemes including PDS, IRS/RES and certain qualifying apartment frameworks.
Continued ownership matters
Property-linked residence is generally tied to continued ownership of the qualifying property. Buying arbitrary property in Mauritius does not automatically create a residence permit.
Property acquisition, immigration status, work rights, tax residence and permanent residence are separate legal questions.
