EU Blue Card and Highly Qualified Work in Lithuania in 2026
Lithuania's EU Blue Card is the residence route for highly qualified employment.
Salary framework
The official Blue Card remuneration formula distinguishes jobs on the high-value shortage list from other highly qualified employment. The Migration Department's published framework uses at least 1.2 BDU for a listed high-value shortage profession and 1.5 BDU otherwise.
For applications using the BDU values published in May 2026, that corresponds to EUR 2,893.68 for 1.2 BDU and EUR 3,617.10 for 1.5 BDU.
Salary is only one part of Blue Card eligibility; professional qualification/experience and the qualifying employment relationship also matter.
2026 mobility change
From 22 May 2026, Blue Card holders can change employer after 12 months of work without the previous separate-permission procedure described by the Migration Department.
Do not treat the EU Blue Card as interchangeable with the ordinary employment-quota route.
