Employer-Sponsored Work Residence in Ecuador in 2026
Ecuador's temporary work-residence route for actividades laborales bajo relación de dependencia is the standard category for a foreign national who will work as an employee.
Employer and contract evidence
In addition to the general immigration documents, the official procedure requires an employment action/appointment from the relevant public entity or a private employment contract, plus a certificate of registration of the contract from the labor authority. For a private employer, the procedure also calls for certificates showing no pending obligations with the SRI, IESS and Superintendencia de Compañías, as applicable.
Founder distinction

Duration and application
The official procedure states two years of temporary residence and uses e-VISAS. The route is distinct from professional licensing: a regulated role can require both immigration permission and profession-specific authorization.
