Denmark permanent residence in 2026
The standard national residence period is normally 8 years. A 4-year route is possible only when the basic requirements and all 4 supplementary requirements are satisfied.
The basic framework generally includes at least 3 years and 6 months of regular full-time employment or qualifying self-employment during the previous 4 years, employment at decision, and Danish Test 2, alongside other requirements.
The supplementary requirements include Danish Test 3, at least 4 years of employment during the previous 4 years and 6 months, active citizenship, and average annual taxable income of at least DKK 346,155.57 (2026 level) for the previous 2 years.
A normal 8-year applicant generally needs at least 2 of these 4 supplementary requirements; all 4 can enable the 4-year route.
