Denmark higher education and job seeking in 2026
Where proof is required, the 2026 self-support rate is DKK 7,426 per month, up to DKK 89,112 for 12 months.
Students in state-approved higher education may generally work 90 hours per month from September to May and full time in June, July and August.
For non-state-approved programmes, rules changed for applications on or after 2 May 2025.
Post-study job seeking can be 6 months or 3 years, depending on the programme. Eligible holders can in specified cases apply for a work permit without limitations during the job-seeking period.
