Chad business and investor establishment in 2026
The Ministry of Commerce states that RCCM registration is the first formal step for anyone carrying on commercial activity in Chad. The process applies to individual traders, companies including SARL/SA/SNC, economic-interest groups and branches of foreign companies.
That business-registration framework should be kept separate from immigration.
RCCM and operating approvals
The Ministry says RCCM registration gives the enterprise legal existence and supports activities such as opening a professional account and contracting in its own name. Depending on the sector, licences or approvals can require additional technical and corporate documents.
Business formalization, tax registration and sector licensing do not automatically grant a foreign founder the right to enter, reside or work.
No automatic investor residence
Current official sources reviewed on 19 September 2026 do not establish a standalone national startup visa, golden visa or automatic permanent residence by investment.
The Ministry refers to a “Start-up Act” in its entrepreneurship and innovation policy. That phrase is economic-policy language; it is not evidence of a startup immigration visa.
Immigration layer
A foreign founder who needs a visa must use the current evisa.td process unless exempt. A continuing stay may require residence documentation under Decree No. 2299/PR/PM/MSPI/2025.
If the founder is also employed by the company, foreign-worker rules under the Labour Code may apply separately.
Practical sequence
A foreign investor should map:
- immigration permission for entry;
- RCCM/company establishment;
- tax and sector-specific registrations;
- any labour authorization for employed foreign personnel; and
- residence documentation for the intended stay.
Do not assume one approval substitutes for another.
