Burkina Faso Business and Entrepreneur Visa Options in 2026
Burkina Faso publishes business visas, but current official sources do not publish a separate startup visa or entrepreneur residence visa.
A founder should separate four questions: entry/stay permission, long-stay or residence documentation, commercial authorization, and any labour authorization required for the founder's actual work.
Short-stay business visa
The official short-stay visa can be issued for business and cannot exceed 90 days.
Current published fees are 77,000 CFA francs for single-entry business and 93,500 CFA francs for multiple-entry business.
But the official page also states that a short-stay visa does not grant the right to work without prior authorization from the minister in charge of labour.
Long-stay business visa
Visa Burkina publishes a long-stay business visa for stays beyond 90 days. The current listed fee is 187,000 CFA francs.
The general long-stay checklist requires a valid passport, application form, photos, proof of purpose, medical certificate, proof of support or sufficient income, health insurance and payment evidence.
The long-stay business visa is an immigration/stay document. It does not erase separate labour or commercial rules.
Is there a Burkina Faso startup visa?
No dedicated startup or innovation-founder visa was identified in the current official visa material.
A startup founder therefore has to fit the real business, residence and labour framework rather than a special startup category.
Foreign-trader authorization
Burkina Faso's Public Service portal says an Autorisation d’exercer le commerce (AEC) is a prior formality for any foreign natural or legal person wishing to conduct commercial activity in Burkina Faso.
That is a commercial authorization, not an immigration visa or work permit.
Company registration through CEFORE
For a company such as a SARL, SA or SAS, the official public-service page describes registration in the Registre du Commerce et du Crédit Mobilier (RCCM) through CEFORE.
The published checklist includes company documents, manager identification, premises/location evidence and, for foreigners, the foreign-trader authorization or evidence that it has been requested.
Company registration does not create residence
A foreigner can own or manage a company while still needing the correct immigration and work status.
Likewise, a long-stay business visa does not automatically answer whether the founder's day-to-day work requires labour authorization under the 2026 Labour Code.
2026 foreign-worker rules can affect founders
If the founder is engaged as a non-national non-resident worker, the new Labour Code's prior employment-service authorization, work-permit and contract-validation rules can become relevant.
