Technology Talent Admission Scheme in Hong Kong in 2026

The Technology Talent Admission Scheme (TechTAS) is a fast-track employer route for non-local technology talent undertaking qualifying research and development work in Hong Kong.

Company quota first

An eligible company must first obtain a quota from the Innovation and Technology Commission. A company with a valid quota can sponsor an eligible worker within the quota validity period.

R&D and qualifications

Current guidance covers R&D fields including artificial intelligence, biotechnology, cybersecurity, data analytics, financial technology, green technology, integrated-circuit design, microelectronics, quantum technology and robotics.

The standard framework uses a STEM degree from a well-recognised university. Master's or doctoral degree holders generally do not need separate work experience, while applicants with only a bachelor's degree normally need at least one year of relevant technology work experience.

The sponsored position is full-time and remuneration must not be below the prevailing market level.
