Technical Professionals Stream in Hong Kong in 2026

The Technical Professionals Stream is a skilled-trade pathway under GEP and ASMTP. It targets experienced non-degree technical professionals in specified trades.

Core eligibility

Applicants must generally be 18 to 40, meet the qualification and experience requirements for the relevant trade, hold a confirmed qualifying Hong Kong job offer, satisfy the minimum employment-contract rules for that trade and receive remuneration at or above the applicable market requirement.

Current quota

The stream has an overall quota of 10,000 during its first three years, from 30 June 2025 through 29 June 2028, with a maximum 3,000 quota for each specified trade.

Eight trades

The current list covers new industrialisation technicians, nurses, aircraft maintenance technicians, marine services technicians for local vessels, information technology technicians, lift/escalator technicians, BIM coordinators and electrical technicians.

Qualification, licensing, work-experience, contract-duration and pay requirements vary materially by trade.
