Quality Migrant Admission Scheme in Hong Kong in 2026

The Quality Migrant Admission Scheme (QMAS) is a talent-admission route for highly skilled or talented people who want to settle in Hong Kong. It is not an employer-sponsored visa and does not require a job offer at the application stage.

Prerequisites

Applicants must satisfy prerequisites on age, financial self-sufficiency, good character and educational or professional background before being assessed.

General Points Test

The current General Points Test uses 12 assessment criteria across six aspects: age, academic qualifications, language proficiency, work experience, annual income and business ownership. The prevailing published threshold is 6 out of 12.

Meeting the threshold only makes an applicant eligible to submit; it does not guarantee approval.

Achievement-based route

The Achievement-based Points Test is reserved for exceptionally high achievement such as major international awards or peer-recognised contributions of major significance.

General Points Test entrants are normally granted an initial 36-month stay under current rules.

Immigration approval is discretionary and depends on the current rules and the evidence submitted. Immigration permission does not replace employer, company, tax, professional-licensing, securities or other regulatory requirements.
