Dominica permanent residence

Dominica's government publishes a separate Permanent Residence process for established non-nationals.

Five-year condition

The official guidance says an applicant should have been resident or employed on island for five years. Granting permanent residence is discretionary, so satisfying the time condition should not be described as an automatic entitlement.

Supporting evidence

The published application requirements include completed forms, a medical certificate, testimonials from people who have known the applicant during their time in Dominica, financial evidence or an employer responsibility letter, a recent police record, proof of the application-fee payment, a cover letter, marriage certificate where applicable, and copies of work or residence permits issued during the applicant's stay.

Employment and immigration history matter

Because the government specifically asks for prior work and residence permits, applicants should preserve their immigration records throughout their stay. Local work remains subject to the separate work-permit framework unless an exemption applies.

Not the same as citizenship

Permanent residence is not Dominican citizenship. Investors considering citizenship directly through qualifying investment should review the separate Citizenship by Investment route.
