Central African Republic long-stay visa in 2026

The most important current detail is unusually specific: the Embassy of the Central African Republic in France describes the long-stay visa as 45 to 90 days. Do not import a six-month or one-year definition from another immigration system.

The current application form lists private travel, vacation, business, work, official travel and other purposes. The fact that "work" appears as a purpose does not remove any separate employment-law requirements for a foreign employee.

What the current Embassy process shows

The Embassy's service page supports online or paper applications. Its form asks for identity and passport information, profession and employer, the purpose and duration of the stay, Central African address and contacts, and whether the applicant intends to settle in the country.

The form also lists supporting material including a valid passport and copy, two identity photographs, an airline ticket and evidence supporting the trip such as an invitation, mission order or accommodation booking. Requirements can vary by purpose and consular jurisdiction, so applicants should use the instructions of the competent post rather than assume the Paris process applies everywhere.

45–90 days is not a residence card

A 45–90 day long-stay visa is an entry/stay authorization. The country's official tax-law compilation separately recognizes residence cards for foreign nationals.

That makes two common claims unsafe:

  • a long-stay visa does not by itself prove a right to indefinite residence; and
  • having a residence-related objective does not eliminate the need to meet the applicable entry-visa rules.

See the residence-card guide for the limited public evidence on resident categories.

Work and business purposes need their own legal layer

For foreign salaried employees, Labour Code No. 09.004 contains a separate employment-contract visa requirement. Business operators may also need establishment, tax or sector permissions. The visa form's purpose checkbox is not evidence that those other permissions disappear.

Compare foreign employment and business/investor establishment.

Processing time and jurisdiction

A February 2025 circular from the Embassy in France stated that short-stay, long-stay and courtesy visas at that mission could be collected 72 hours after filing. That is a mission-specific operational notice, not a universal statutory processing guarantee.

Always check the responsible embassy or authority for current filing location, fees, timing and document requirements.
