Grenada immigration pathways
Grenada separates permission to work, permanent-residence status, and investment-migration routes. A visitor visa or ordinary permission to enter does not by itself authorize employment, and forming or buying a business should not be treated as automatic immigration permission.
Route map
- Work Permit — employment and self-employment — the core Labour route for foreign nationals who will work in Grenada, including evidence rules that expressly contemplate self-employed applicants.
- Permanent Residence — the general Home Affairs process for applicants seeking permanent-resident status.
- Permanent Residence by Investment — the investment-migration framework allowing permanent residence through qualifying investment, handled through licensed agents.
- Citizenship by Investment — citizenship through the National Transformation Fund or an approved-project investment under the official programme.
Digital nomads and remote workers
The official sources reviewed for this publication do not establish a dedicated Grenada digital-nomad or remote-worker visa. Grenada's diplomatic guidance states that visa holders are not authorized to work without permission from the Ministry responsible for Labour. Remote workers should therefore verify whether their activity requires work authorization rather than assuming foreign clients or employers create an exemption.
Employees, freelancers, founders and self-employed people
The Department of Labour's work-permit rules govern foreign-national employment. Its published application requirements specifically request proof of finance from the employer, sponsoring entity or the foreign national if self-employed, so self-employment can be assessed within the work-permit framework. The reviewed official material does not publish a separate startup-founder or freelancer visa.
Residence and investment
Grenada maintains a general permanent-residence process through Home Affairs. Separately, the Investment Migration Agency's statutory programme allows qualifying applicants to pursue permanent residence or citizenship following approved investment.
Citizenship by investment
Grenada's current investment-migration programme uses the National Transformation Fund (NTF) and approved-project investment routes. The official agency currently publishes a US$235,000 NTF contribution for a main applicant and up to three qualifying dependants, and approved-project real-estate thresholds starting at US$270,000 plus the applicable government contribution and fees.
